Spring Break 2026

Spring break is Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, March 22.

Please note that all current residential students are welcome to stay on campus during spring break, but must register to be here – there is no additional cost for staying on campus for some or all of spring break. Residential students are also welcome to travel and leave campus during this week.

 

Don't Forget to Register

If you have not done so already, please register to stay on campus during Spring Break. You can register by logging in to Residence. Your Registration must be completed by March 12, 2026 at 11:45pm.

Limited Campus Resources

Please note that many offices on campus are closed or working with minimal staff over break periods. If you have an emergency, you should contact Public Safety and Services, open 24/7 (call 413-538-2304).

Note that the Division of Student Life suite in Blanchard 205 is open its regular hours, Monday through Friday from 9-5 pm. Please review this webpage for additional information regarding specific Offices (including Counseling Service and Health Services).

Important Announcements

Facilities Management will be doing their spring sweeping around campus beginning Monday, March 16th at 7 AM and continuing throughout the week. During this time, you may see increased Facilities worker presence around campus and may hear some noise.

South Hadley Fire District 2 will be performing joint ice water rescue training with Granby Fire on Upper Lake on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 from 6 - 8:30 PM. During this time, you will see emergency vehicle presence, as well as emergency responders, in the area around Ham and MacGregor Hall and on Upper Lake.

Meals

Dining Commons

Dining Commons will close at 10 PM on March 13th. March break hours will start on Saturday, March 14th and continue through Saturday, March 21st. Please review the following information:

  • Breakfast: 7:15am - 9am ( Classics, Harvest, Beverage and Cereal Area available)
  • Lunch: 11:30am - 1:30pm (L'Chaim-Kosher, Baraka - Halal, Harvest, Beverage and Cereal Area available)
  • Dinner: 5pm - 8:15pm (L'Chaim-Kosher, Baraka - Halal, Harvest, Beverage and Cereal Area available)
  • The Dining Commons will remain open for student access throughout the entire day (7:15am-8:15pm). While the space is open all day, full-service stations will only be available during scheduled meals hours. Between meal periods, only Harvest, Beverage and the Cereal Area will remain open. A meal swipe is required for entry at all times.

Starting Sunday, March 22nd, hours are as follows:

  • Breakfast: 7:15am - 9:00 am (Classics open)
  • Lunch: 11:30am - 1:30pm (L'Chaim & Baraka open)
  • Dinner: 5:00 pm (Normal operations resume for all stations)

Frances Perk, Kendade, and Grab & Go

These locations will close on Friday, March 13th and reopen on Monday, March 23rd. The Cochary Pub will close at 10 PM and reopen on March, 23rd.

Milk and Cookies

Last day for M&Cs will be Thursday, March 12th. Normal M&Cs will resume on Monday, March 23rd.

Programs and Events

Student Engagement Staff are planning some fun events during these days of break to keep you entertained and connected to your community! Events are outlined below:

  • Community M&Cs (Movie and Cookies!) – Sunday, March 15th: Join us in the Creighton ground floor lounge for Community M&Cs, featuring your favorite Girl Scout Cookies and a movie. Vegan and gluten free options will be available.
  • Trip to Mystic, CT – Tuesday, March 17th: Limited space available! Travel to Mystic, CT where we’ll start the day in Old Mystic Village near the Mystic Aquarium (subsidized tickets available) and will travel to Historic Mystic Harbour in the afternoon. Vans will depart campus at 9 AM and will return at approximately 7 PM. Space is limited – sign up (or join the waitlist) via Embark.
  • Shuttle to Northampton - Friday, March 20th: Limited space available! Join us on a trip to Northampton, where you can stop at the Smith College Flower Show or visit other destinations in the area. We’ll depart campus at 12 PM and return at 5 PM. Space is limited – sign up or join the waitlist via Embark.
  • Discounted Tower Theater Movie Tickets: Limited availability! Stop by the Division of Student Life Suite in Blanchard on Monday 3/16 and Tuesday 3/17 (while supplies last) to pick up a discounted movie ticket! Tickets are available for $5 (CASH ONLY) for those registered by the March 12th deadline to stay over break. Note: students may only purchase one ticket for themselves, and they may not purchase tickets for a friend.

Campus Shuttles

The Division of Student Life sponsors a limited number of shuttles to certain destinations in the area. Here are the shuttles for Spring Break 2026. Unless otherwise indicated, pick up is at the Blanchard Bus Stop:

  • Holyoke Mall/Stop & Shop on Sunday 3/15:
    • Depart MHC - 11:30am and 12:30pm
    • Depart JCPenney - 3pm and 4pm
  • Big Y South Hadley on Monday 3/16 and Wednesday 3/18:
    • Depart MHC - 1:30pm, 2pm, 2:30pm, 3pm, and 3:30pm
    • Depart Big Y - 1:45pm, 2:15pm, 2:45pm, 3:15pm, 3:45pm, and 4:45pm
  • Trans World Market and Trader Joes on Friday 3/20:
    • Depart MHC - 12:00pm and 2:00pm
    • Depart Trans World Market and Trader Joes - 1:00pm/1:15pm and 3:00pm/3:15pm

Health Services

Health Service will be open for limited hours during Spring Break 2026, starting Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20th. Please review the following information regarding services accessible to students during this time:

  • A triage nurse and medical provider will be available via appointment from 9 AM - 12 PM
  • A triage nurse is available for phone consults only (call 413-538-2121 to access) from 12 - 3 PM
  • Med pick-up is available from 9 AM - 3 PM during this time.

Students seeking urgent care or routine health visits during that time should phone 413-538-2121 to be connected with a nurse or schedule a medical appointment.

WHEN HEALTH SERVICES IS CLOSED: For medical emergencies, call Public Safety and Services at 413-538-2304 or dial 911.

During the academic year (including Spring Break) when Health Services is closed, an after-hours on-call service is available for urgent medical concerns. Call 413-538-2242 and follow the prompts to access this service.

Counseling Services

Counseling Services is closed for regular appointments during Spring Break. Regular hours will resume on Monday, March 23rd at 8:30 AM.

For emergency support when the clinic is closed, students and concerned community members can consult with an offsite clinician from the 24/7 Crisis Line. Call 413-538-2037 and follow the prompts for urgent evaluation and support in planning next steps.

LITS - Williston Library

The Williston Library will operate with adjusted hours for Spring Break. Please see the following information:

  • Friday, March 13th: 8 am-5 pm
  • Saturday, March 14th- Sunday, March 15th: CLOSED
  • Monday, March 16th - Friday March 20th: 8:30 am-5 pm
  • Saturday, March 21st: CLOSED
  • Sunday, March 22nd: 6 pm-midnight

Mail Services

The Mail and Copy Center will be operating normally during Spring Break, which means they are open Monday - Friday 9 AM to 5 PM.

Kendall Sports Complex

Kendall Sports Complex will be closed for Spring Break. Please see specific information below:

  • Friday, March 13th: Kendall and Fitness Center open 6:30 AM - 7 PM (no open swim)
  • Saturday, March 14th - Friday, March 20th: Closed
  • Saturday, March 21st: Kendall open 9am-4pm; Fitness Center closed
  • Sunday, March 22nd: Closed

Public Transportation - PVTA

The PVTA runs with limited hours during Spring Break. For more information visit the PVTA Website here.

Route 38  (UMASS/Mount Holyoke) - No service from Saturday, March 14th through Sunday, March 22nd.

Route 39 (Smith/Hampshire) - No service from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20th.
