Role of the President

The President shall:

Act as Chief Executive Officer of SGA and serve as a representative of the student body to the administrative community,

  1. Is well-informed of/dedicated to learning evolving community concerns,
  2. Demonstrates traits of a student leader, ie: a) experience in leadership roles, b) ability to communicate effectively, c) confidence in public speaking skills.

Gather the collective input of the entire Executive Board, set the weekly Executive Board meeting agenda at least 24 hours before the Executive Board meeting and ensure that the goals and strategies for the agenda topics are articulated and fulfilled,

  1. Set agendas according to the wants and needs of the weekly proceedings,
  2. Learn how to utilize resources such as G-Suite to coordinate and to set google calendar events/meetings.

Work with the Executive Board to define and distribute its activities and maintain general responsibility for the efficient operation of those activities,

  1. Communicate with other Executive Board members about tasks, expectations, and responsibilities,

Serve as a member of the Constitutional Review Committee,

  1. They are co-chair unless they elect not to,
  2. Communicate with CRC members about prerogatives, expectations, and responsibilities,
  3. Work with SGA members from various backgrounds to collect input and feedback about proposed SGA constitution changes,

Serve as an ex-officio member of the Student Conference Committee,

Serve as a member of the Five College Student Coordinating Board and maintain a relationship with the student governments of the other four colleges,

  1. Attend to present updates on the developments in the Mount Holyoke Community,
  2. Relay updates within the Five College Consortium back to the Mount Holyoke Community.

Serve as a representative to the College Planning Committee and Strategic Planning Committee,

Attend and present at all faculty meetings and report back to the Executive Board and Senate,

Meet at least once a semester with the President of the College and the Dean of Students,

  1. Connect with the SGA advisor to schedule these meetings and,
  2. Set an agenda with clear expectations and goals for each meeting with the administration.

Ensure that all representatives of SGA are acting according to the job descriptions outlined in the Constitution and these Bylaws,

  1. Hold monthly one-on-ones in collaboration with the VP with each of the executive board members,
  2. Communicate with other Executive Board members about tasks, expectations, and responsibilities,

Communicate with other Executive Board members about delegating work relating to projects and goals.
