First Generation and Low-Income Partnership (FLIP)

About Us

The First-Generation and Low-Income Partnership, lovingly referred to as FLIP, exists to provide community, advocacy, and resources for First-Generation and/or Low-Income Students as we navigate the college experience within an institution that is traditionally affluent and built on legacy. We welcome all students who self-identify with either or both of these identities. With the new remote learning environment, we hope to help students in adapting to the many changes taking place and will continue to act as a resource and build the community through virtual events!

Feel free to explore this website for resources, information on being FGLI, helpful links, articles, and more!

Members Benefits

Through FLIP, members can become a part of a collaborative and supportive community of other First-Generation and Low-Income students, faculty, and administrators. Members can attend events that aim to inform the community of the resources that exist that can help FGLI students navigate success, accessibility, and personal wellbeing throughout their time at Mount Holyoke and beyond. FLIP can also provide quick responses to FGLI students' questions or concerns as well as share and circulate information on research, internship, and job opportunities.

Events & Activities

FLIP invites students to attend our weekly Open Hours on Wednesdays, from 4:30-5:30 pm EST. This time can be used to ask questions, voice concerns, or just to meet and feel connected to other FGLI students! If you can not make it to these meetings, feel free to reach out to us via Instagram (@mhcflip) or by email at!

Exclusive Resources

The First Gen Network has created a webpage specifically for FGLI resources and is managing the Student Safety Net Fund. For more general information on being a FGLI student and the identity, you can visit this page on the Mount Holyoke website. For any questions or concerns about these pages/resources, please reach out to us at

We are on Facebook (@flipmtholyoke), Instagram (@mhcflip), and Discord! Our Discord is especially meant to connect us during remote learning so join to ask questions, meet other FGLI students, and have a safe space to talk about your experiences. We also welcome students to email us at for any reason at all!
