FGLI Traditions

FGLI Faculty & Staff Mixer

Each semester, FLIP and the First Gen Network collaborate to host an informal mixer to connect First-Gen and/or Low-Income students to MHC faculty and staff from these same identities!

FLI Week

Each November, centered around National First Gen Student Day, FLIP hosts a week-long series of events bringing attention to both First-Generation and Low-Income issues, providing space for FGLI students to come together, and promoting activism on-campus for members of this community and its allies.

FGLI Cording Ceremony

In recognition of the accomplishments of our graduating FGLI seniors, FLIP and the First Gen Network collaborate to host the FGLI Cording Ceremony. This typically features a banquet event where faculty members and peers can recognize and support our seniors, all of whom will receive an FGLI honor cord at the event that they can then wear during commencement.

Involvement Fair

Looking to get involved in FLIP? Catch us at the Involvement Fair in both the fall and spring semesters, or stop by any of our meetings/events to learn more! You can also reach out to us anytime via our social media pages. :)
