Hello student group leaders!
We at the Office of Student Involvement are writing to share some important updates. We hope you are having a restful and rejuvenating break, and are excited to welcome you all back on campus!
Involvement Fair
The Spring Involvement Fair will be held Sunday, February 2nd, from 2 PM - 4 PM in Chapin Auditorium. If your group would like to have a table at the Fair, please fill out the registration form by 8 PM on Wednesday, January 29th.
Involvement Consultants
The Student Involvement Consultants support student organizations and offer sessions and workshops focused on training, reflection, and skill-building. This spring they will be hosting cohort discussions - a chance for groups with similar missions to come together to discuss challenges and strategies and to share ideas. They will begin contacting cohort groups and sharing drop-in hours in early February. Questions? Email them at involvement-consultants@mtholyoke.edu.
DEI Training
We are partnering with the Office of Community and Belonging to provide required diversity, equity, and inclusion training to help groups create or update their anti-racism action plan. Additional details will be communicated in early February.
Event Accessibility Communication
Beginning this spring we require RSOs to include accessibility information in Embark event descriptions. This video will guide you through the process.

MHC After Dark
Have an idea? We have the funding! MHC After Dark is a series of late-night (10pm - 12am) substance-free events that are meant to engage students after other campus events have ended. This initiative, which is brought to you by Student Engagement and Be Well, will provide your organization with everything you need to put on your program. Apply to host an event in the spring!

For new Presidents/Chairs:
New Presidents/Chairs should take the two training modules found on our training page: RSO 101 and RSO Policies. Quizzes must be completed with a 100% score.
Travel: Travel requests must be made 4 weeks in advance. Documentation and training with the Associate Director are required if a group wants to travel more than 50 miles from the College and/or make an overnight trip. Any driver(s) will need to be certified through Fleet Services.
For new Treasurers or Authorized Signers
Financial training: New authorized signers should complete the linked Ways & Means and the Business Office trainings with a 100% score.
The SGA Business Office will open the week of January 27th for limited hours; a permanent schedule will be communicated the week after.
Reminder: The Ways & Means deadline for March funding is February 9th at noon.
For Social Chairs / Event Planners
Event planners should view the Event Training presentation. Groups that plan to host complex events (conferences, cultural shows, parties, concerts) will receive additional support and guidance specific to their proposed event from OSI pro staff.
Audition criteria are required for groups that hold auditions for membership or participation in event performances. This document can live in your group’s constitution but should also be available to share with students auditioning with your group.
Thank you!
Best,
