Hello student group leaders!
We at the Office of Student Involvement are writing to share some important updates. We hope you are having a restful and rejuvenating break, and are excited to welcome you all back on campus!
Involvement Fair
This event is a great way to have new and returning students learn about our wonderful student organizations and find a variety of ways to get involved in the MHC community!
The Spring Involvement Fair will be held Sunday, January 28th, from 2 PM - 4 PM in Chapin Auditorium. If your group would like to have a table at the Fair, please fill out the registration form by 11:55 pm on Wednesday, January 24th. It is the same form that was sent to all org officers on December 6, 2023 in the email "Spotlight: Org Leader Transfers and Spring Involvement Fair."
Involvement Consultants
The Student Involvement Consultants support student organizations and offer sessions and workshops focused on training, reflection, and skill-building. They provide group and peer-to-peer advising and resources to help students connect to and engage with groups and activities on campus.
This spring look for events happening in the Involvement Studio (304 Blanchard). They will be reaching out to sponsor org open houses and will be hosting interclub cohort sessions - a chance to talk to other groups about challenges and strategies, and to share ideas. Email them at involvement-consultants@mtholyoke.edu
Did your org transition officers?
For new Presidents/Chairs:
RSO 101 Presentation
Travel training: Travel requests and documentation, and a safety meeting with the Associate Director are required if a group wants to travel more than 50 miles from the College and/or make an overnight trip. Any driver(s) will need to be certified through Fleet Services and fleet vans can be reserved on that website. A Fleet Authorization form can be picked up during the meeting or in the OSI office, Blanchard 327.
For new Treasurers or Authorized Signers
Financial training: New authorized signers should complete both the Ways & Means and the Business Office training with a 100% score.
The SGA Business Office will open the week of January 29th for limited hours; a permanent schedule will be communicated the week after.
For Social Chairs / Event Planners
Event training: Event planners should view this presentation. Groups that plan to host complex events (conferences, cultural shows, parties, concerts) will receive additional support and guidance that is specific to their proposed event from OSI pro staff.
Audition criteria is required for groups that hold auditions for membership or participation in event performances. This document can live in your group’s constitution but should also be available to share with students who are auditioning with your group.
Blanchard 108 Storage
If you are a group that has items stored in Blanchard 108, please make sure that you have completed the Storage & Space Use Agreement to make sure you are aware of policies and to obtain your cabinet assignment. If you are a new group or a group that does not have storage anywhere else on campus you can use the form to request space. Please visit the Storage & Spaces Embark page for more information.
