Thinking about starting a new organization? Attend the New Student Organization Orientation is the first (required) step in the process to becoming a registered student organization or "RSO."

The creator and future president/primary contact (2 people) must attend one of these orientation sessions, which will cover:
  • New Student Group Application Process
  • All requirements, rules, policies, and procedures
  • Resources available
  • Building a constitution/bylaws
  • Finding an Advisor
  • Conduct and Hazing Prevention
  • Where to find additional information
  • Q&A session

We've added a new category of organization called Interest Groups, which are perfect for students who are looking for minimal resources: space to meet, a table at the Involvement Fair and an Embark page to recruit, and fewer requirements (such as an advisor and constitution). Some of the material in the orientation session will not pertain to Interest Groups, but representatives should still stay for the entire session.

For more information on the New Student Org Registration Process or to see additional orientatiom sessions visit our Creating an RSO webpage or email us at student-involvement@mtholyoke.edu.

The event is in the Involvement Studio on the third floor of Blanchard. The floor is accessible by elevator, and the room is on the Skinner side of the upper atrium. The Studio is a narrow space, though furniture can be shifted. The room may be crowded, depending on the number of people attending. The presentation will be projected on a TV screen. The Studio does not have a ceiling, so ambient noise from the Blanchard atrium could impact the volume in the space.

The Office of Student Involvement strives to provide access to our events for all interested participants. Please contact involvement-consultants@mtholyoke.edu to request accommodations. We ask that requests for accommodations be made at least 48 hours in advance, but we will make every effort to meet accommodation requests at any time.
