Hello everyone,
I hope this finds you well and safe. I am reaching out today from the Office of Student Involvement to introduce you to our new student engagement platform, Embark. As of the start of the fall 2020 semester all currently enrolled students have access to Embark! Student Involvement has been building out Embark since the summer of 2020, with new features continuing to rollout, and we are excited to introduce it to you.
Read on to learn more about Embark, and know that we look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions about the platform!
You may be wondering, why an online platform? Why something new?
The Office of Student Involvement has consistently received feedback from individual students, student organizations (in-person and via survey), and from SGA (through Senate and the SCC survey) about centralizing and providing up-to-date resources related to involvement opportunities on-campus, creating a mechanism for students to track their on-campus engagement, streamlining student group processes and providing enhanced resources, and creating a place for robust interaction with events, student groups, and more. Embark is intended to meet those expressed needs - and hopefully check off some we do not know about!
What is the purpose of Embark?
Embark is meant to complement each student’s out-of-the-classroom journey while at Mount Holyoke, creating a centralized, online space where students can connect to each other, get involved, and easily access tools for managing and tracking their co-curricular involvement - from events and programs to student group interaction and more. For student groups, Embark will be a centralized hub for accessing resources and showcasing every organization’s mission, purpose, and offerings to the wider campus.
How do I log-into Embark and what can I do in Embark?
To log in, go to embark.mtholyoke.edu. There you will be able to sign in with your MHC credentials. You will be able to go into your own account and update your Profile, if you wish. You can also view any student organization’s Group page. We have a website under Embark Resources with information to get you started.
You can learn more about our currently recognized student organizations, browse upcoming events coming from student groups and certain offices, register for events and chat with the event hosts and other event attendees, and sync details up to your google calendar. Student organizations have a centralized place to fill out the Event Registration Form, SGA Funding Applications, and to create an org website in addition to being able to manage membership rosters, centralize documents, and develop membership emails and newsletters.
What if I have comments or suggestions for Student Involvement about Embark?
If any of you are interested in providing feedback or ideas, please let us know via the Embark Ideas and Suggestions Form. If you have questions about using the platform please email embark-help@mtholyoke.edu.
Thank you so much!
