Hello group leaders!
We’re excited to share that we have developed a new cohort advising model for all Registered Student Organizations (RSOs!) An advising cohort is a group of student organizations with shared interests, opportunities, or missions. Cohort members will be invited to meet as a group with your OSI staff advisor to increase your support network, foster connections between your organizations, and help you work toward similar objectives.
To clarify: RSOs have both content and functional advisors. Content advisors are typically faculty and staff members who can provide expertise and guidance relevant to the group’s mission and interests. Student Involvement serves as the functional advisors for all RSOs, providing guidance, support, and training on policies, events, finances, and logistics.
Every cohort will have opportunities to:
- Attend a meet and greet meeting/mixer with your advisor(s) and cohort members;
- Host an open house to attract new members to your organizations;
- Participate in cohort peer conversations about your culture, operations, challenges, and successes, facilitated by a Student Involvement Consultant
Cohort activities will kick off in September and October once classes resume. OSI functional advisor(s) will reach out to their cohorts to invite them to their fall events.
