Folk Music and Dance Society is thrilled to welcome the fabulous Becky Tracy and Rachel Bell this Friday! (Slight change of plan since Calico can no longer make it) These guys play energetic folk music including traditional and original tunes, and may teach some dancing! We will be having a wonderful concert in the cozy Cassani Room in Shattuck, so bring an instrument to join in the jam session after! These guys are crazy fun to play with!

Following this event on Saturday (the next day) there will be a workshop for the traditional Irish style of Sean Nos dancing taught by our delightful alum, Mo Brachfeld '18 in the afternoon. (see separate embark event)

About the band:
Becky Tracy and Rachel Bell are a powerhouse Celtic, contra dance, and bal folk duo. They criss-cross the continent playing for concerts, dance events, festivals, and workshops.
Rachel draws her inspiration from Celtic, French, English, and Quebecois traditions, cranking out new material while deeply respecting the melodies that have been around for hundreds of years. Based in Brattleboro, VT, she is busy during non-pandemic times touring all over North America and abroad for concerts, contra dances, French BalFolk dances, English country dances, workshops, and festivals.

She thrives on collaborative musical work, especially with her bands Eloise & Co., Peregrine Road, Alchemy, and Old World Charm School. Her playing spans an enormous range of emotion—from nuanced and sensitive to exhilarating and powerful—pushing the boundaries of what is expected from an accordion.

Rachel is also a seasoned educator, with individual lesson and group workshop offerings for both children and adults.
