During this workshop, participants will learn about taking risks and making leaps through poetry to surprise and engage their readers –– and themselves! We'll do some collective thinking, word play, drafting, and sharing (for those who want to). Everyone will leave with a poem, or the beginnings of a poem, that they can continue to work on. All are welcome –– beginners, seasoned poets, and anyone in between! Please bring a notebook, a writing utensil, and creative energy!

Bio of workshop leader:
Lindsay Adkins is a poet and writer whose work has been featured in Electric Lit, Narrative, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, Frontier Poetry, So to Speak Journal, and Sugar House Review, among others. She is the recipient of the Amy Award from Poets and writers, the Phyllis B. Abrahms Award in poetry, and an author fellowship from the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. She holds an MFA from Stony Brook Southampton, where she also taught in the undergraduate creative writing program. Currently, Lindsay works in the Marketing & Communications department at MHC and is the Arts LLC staff liaison.
