 Re-Recognition
\"Mount

Hello Org leaders!
We hope that you are all having a great summer and finding time to rest and rejuvenate! We would like to remind you all of some upcoming events and deadlines. We are always available to answer questions about what your student group needs to do before the semester begins.

Re-Recognition

The Re-Recognition process opened in April, and concludes in September. Please review the Re-Recognition requirements on our Embark page. You can check to see what items your group has completed on our Recognition status sheet.

The Registration form due date is 10pm on Sunday, September 7th. If your group has not completed this form, access to your group page will be limited.

Training

Our online training modules will be shared with you on August 22nd. Please expect training on topics such as policies and procedures, an introduction to campus resources, how to apply for funding and conduct financial transactions, and how to hold events.

There will also be in-person training sessions to teach group officers the finer points of event planning and to give authorized signers hands-on training in Embark.

Training sessions will be offered at the beginning of each semester and as needed. We'll send out more details about training session dates next week. Thank you!

Involvement Fair

Register for the Involvement Fair! Sunday, September 7th, 2-4pm on Skinner Green! (Rain location: Chapin). The deadline to register is Wednesday, September 3rd by 8 pm.

Cohorts and Quadrants

We will send out more detailed information next week. Here is an overview of Cohort Advising and the Quadrant Model training rubric.

Cohorts

Last year, we introduced a new cohort advising model for all Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). In this model, each cohort is made up of student organizations with shared interests, opportunities, or missions. Cohorts meet with their OSI staff advisor and each other to expand their support network, build connections across organizations, and work toward shared goals. This year, we’ve created a calendar of events to offer enhanced support and group development, as well as opportunities for skill-building and fostering connections both within and between cohorts. We will share the calendar in the coming weeks!

Quadrants

This fall, we are introducing a system that classifies RSOs based on two key factors: the complexity or risk associated with their activities, and the degree to which they are connected and supported by the college. This classification will serve as a rubric to determine each RSO’s training needs and streamline the training process. We will send out additional information next week.

Student Involvement Consultants

The Student Involvement Consultants support student organizations and offer sessions and workshops focused on training, reflection, and skill-building. Most of their sessions and social programs take place in the Involvement Studio (304 Blanchard). Meet the team, stop by their drop-in hours (finalized in early September), or email them at involvement-consultants@mtholyoke.edu

Constitutions

Last year, the Student Involvement Consultants (SIC) reviewed over 30 Org constitutions and sent feedback to the groups. They will be following up with groups who have not finalized their updates this September. Constitution review will continue through the year; if you would like to schedule a time to discuss your Org’s constitution with an SIC, email them at involvement-consultants@mtholyoke.edu.
