Hello all,
You are receiving this email because either your student organization indicated that you do not have an advisor in your re-recognition form or you reached out to our office asking for help finding one.
We are requiring that student organizations have an advisor but understand that groups need time and assistance to find one. It is completely okay if your group does not have an advisor at this moment - you will not be penalized and it will not prevent you from becoming Recognized.
Our plan is to share resources and opportunities to connect with potential advisors in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please review the following to help you get started:
Student Orgs: Finding an Advisor
This document gives a brief overview of why groups need an advisor and some ways that you can start looking for one.
MHC Advisor FAQ
Faculty and staff might have a lot of questions about the responsibilities or expectations of an advisor. This document talks about what the role might look like and the importance of communication between the advisor and the student group. When you talk to a faculty or staff member about being your advisor, make sure to share this document with them prior to or during your conversation.
Our office will also be reaching out to existing and potential advisors with this information, and we will provide an update to your groups soon.
I hope you are all well and settling into the semester! We will be in touch soon. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Best,
Jaime DeCaro
for the Office of Student Involvement.
