What will the students experience?
For the student leaders, we are requiring two officers from each organization to participate in these training sessions.
- Part I will be a three hours long synchronous session. It will focus on skills for navigating difficult conversations, basic terminology, unconscious bias, and microaggressions, macroaggressions, micro affirmations focus particularly on creating an antiracist organization, and will include pre and post assignments.
-
- Part II, will be a two hours long synchronous session, focused on scenarios, role-playing, and skill-building for interrupting oppression. It will lay the groundwork for your organization to begin developing an action plan for creating an equitable, inclusive, and antiracist student organization. These plans will be due by the end of the spring semester. Coaching will be provided as needed in the support and creation of your Action Plan.
For Part I, to create a valuable experience for participants to engage in conversations, we will limit each session to 25. This means multiple sessions will take place.
