Hello RSO Leaders,

We’re excited to introduce the

Spark & Lead Workshop Series!

It is a year-long set of learning and social opportunities designed for student organizations and interest groups. Our tagline says it best:

Igniting ideas, powering what comes next.

This series is all about helping your RSO thrive: building your leadership skills, creating stronger connections across campus, and giving you practical tools to take your group to the next level. Each month has a theme, with workshops, socials, and advising opportunities to match.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead this year:

  • September – Kickoff & Connections Month
  • October – Inclusive Leadership & Group Dynamics Month
  • November – Collaboration Month
  • February – Creative Solutions Month
  • March – Project Month
  • April – Celebration & Reflection Month

This fall, we will cosponsor (provide programming money) to participating groups! You will receive a monthly cohort-based newsletter with more information!

September: Kickoff & Connections Month

We’re starting strong with a mix of workshops and socials to set you up for success:

  • OSI Advisor Drop-In Hours – stop by for quick questions or brainstorming.
    • Jaime DeCaro (registration, travel, policies) Mondays 1-2, Thursdays 3-4 or by appointment
    • Kim Lavoie (financials, Business Office) - open hours will be emailed to Authorized Signers next week
    • Justin Terlisner (events) - by appointment
    • Tim Dietrick (event production) - by appointment
    • Tasia Clemons (transition programs) - by appointment
    • Laura Sattler (director) - by appointment
    • Involvement Consultants - TBD. Check out their website.

  • SIC Workshops – practical sessions such as New Officer Bootcamp and Developing a Constitution. Sessions will begin next week.

  • Recruit, Retain, Repeat: Cultivating A Self-Sustaining Student Organization - This session, led by Justin Terlisner, will explore how your org can use “the power of why” to improve your organization’s recruitment strategies, as well as explore some common challenges in retaining members. Tuesday, September 9 at 6 pm | Blanchard 227.

  • Cohort Spotlight – takeover opportunities on DSL social media to showcase your group.

In October, the series will feature presentations and workshops from campus partners, including the Weissman Center for Leadership, the Miller Worley Center, Residential Life, Counseling Service, and the Accessibility Justice Club.

If your student organization, club sport or interest group is interested in hosting a session or activity, please email Jaime DeCaro!

We’ll share sign-up links and reminders throughout the month, but for now, mark your calendars and spread the word within your org.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll spark this year.

– The OSI Team
