Elizaveta Lozovaya
Liza Lozovaya has been the Muslim Chaplain of Mount Holyoke College since 2009. Being born in an atheist family in Russia, Liza started learing about global religions on her own, practicing the majority religion of Central Russia, Orthodox Christianity. Spiritual curiosity and a personal commitment to integrity in faith guided Liza to learning about Islam. Since then, she has been on the spiritual journey of learning, discovering, and diving deep in Islamic theology and practice. Liza is blessed with a husband who inspires her to be a better Muslim, and with a nine year old daughter who is fluent in Arabic, memorized a few chapters of the Quran, and always keeps her mom busy. Liza enjoys meaningful conversations with people, especially with college students, loves swimming, and exploring different cultures of the world.
Lucy Frasier
Lucy Frasier is a 2019 graduate of Mount Holyoke college who is currently working for the Career Development Center. During the summer of 2016, she read an English translation of the Qu'ran and started becoming interested in Islam. Several months later, she decided to embrace the religion and has been practicing ever since. Lucy is now living in South Hadley while working for the college. She enjoys spending time with her family, going for walks around the area, and finding new places to eat.
Musa Simon
Musa Simon was born and raised in Albany, NY and moved to Massachusetts in 2003. He reverted to Islam in 2008 after learning about and studying Islam with his wife's family, and then the Muslim community in West Springfield. He served on the board of the Hampshire Mosque in Hadley since 2017, the only mosque in Hampshire County, which is run entirely by volunteers. He has previously worked in the non-for-profit world, but is in the midst of a COVID-inspired career change, working to enter the medical field. He spends much of his free time on being a new homeowner and hanging out with his five nieces and nephews.
