Field experiences on land or at sea provide a rich learning and immersive experience for future field scientists and is an important part of research and career advancement in environmental science research. However, fieldwork requires having an understanding of the conditions and risks that are associated with unfamiliar and oftentimes, remote locations, which will require skills and knowledge on navigating challenging situations that can compromise successful outcomes. In this workshop, students will learn what to expect when venturing into field research including the skills that are necessary to have a productive, enriching, safe, and healthy field experience.

This workshop is part of the MWCE’s Exploring Future Possibilities in Environmental Careers series. Don’t miss the other events:
  • Environmental Studies Alum Panel: Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 4:30-5:30pm, via zoom
  • Communicating Transferable Skills: Wednesday, November 30, 2022, 5:00-5:45pm, Hooker Auditorium
