Join the Mixed Identity Student Collective (MISC) for a table talk exploring Black joy and spirituality through the lens of being mixed race and Black.

This event will center the unique experiences of mixed-race Black individuals, particularly how joy and spirituality are shaped by the presence of multiple faith and cultural backgrounds within families. By reflecting on how these different influences create a foundation for connection, resilience, and celebration, we aim to expand the definition of joy—beyond moments of happiness to include healing, strength, and shared understanding.

Together, we’ll reflect on the role of spirituality in nurturing joy, honor the richness of Black culture, and discuss the complexities of navigating multiple identities. To make this gathering even more special, we’ll be providing catered food from Yaad, a local Black-owned Jamaican restaurant.

The event will feature guided discussions, space for personal storytelling, and opportunities to connect across shared experiences and solidarity. Whether you identify as Black, mixed-race, and/or as an ally, all are welcome to listen, share, and build community together.
