Dear students,
The Office of Community and Belonging in collaboration with the Division of Student Life, Student Government Association, and Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will host dedicated affinity spaces/groups tailored for students this Sunday, December 10.
Affinity groups are intentionally created spaces with people who have shared social identities and/ or experiences to come together for a common purpose and/ or goal. The intention of this weekend’s affinity spaces are to provide an opportunity for intragroup conversation related to what is currently happening on campus and in the world. Students will engage in discussion and dialogue with each other, have space to process how they are feeling, and share ideas for self-care and community support.
We acknowledge that students have multiple, intersecting identities, and we encourage you to join the affinity space/group that feels most salient for you during this time and with which you self-identify. Please log into Embark to register ahead of time – affinity spaces registration – a waitlist will be kept.
- Middle Eastern North African identified students – 1pm to 2:30pm
- Black identified student affinity space - 4pm to 5:30pm
- Muslim identified students – 4pm to 5:30pm
- Students who identify as allies – 4pm to 5:30pm
- Jewish identified students – 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This is currently a one-time 90 minute opportunity, co-facilitated by a trained MoZone Peer Educator and a staff/faculty member or professional social justice educator from the surrounding community. We may likely offer additional groups in the future depending on needs.
If or when you have questions please let us know by contacting dean-students@mtholyoke.edu.
