Martin Luther King Commemoration: Racial Healing and the Solidarity Dividend

Mount Holyoke College welcomes Heather McGhee in conversation with Interim President, Beverly Daniel Tatum for our annual MHC Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration on Thursday, January 26 at 7 pm Eastern Time. This event will also include an intergenerational dialogue with college students.

This event is a collaboration with the Joseph and Evelyn Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights and Spelman College. Understanding racial healing with a focus on the solidarity dividend will help us all deepen our knowledge about how to work together for our shared humanity and survival in the 21st century.

As a collaborative event, the conversation will launch Mount Holyoke's work as a Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) Campus Center focused on cultivating narrative change, racial healing and relationship building - the TRHT at Mount Holyoke seeks to create communal relationships across campus and throughout Western Massachusetts. Our ongoing connection to the Lowery Institute and Spelman College's TRHT is a vital part of developing opportunities for racial justice particularly with an intersectional lens that encourages partnerships with community-based organizations, gender diverse women's colleges and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
