Deep Relaxation aka Yoga Nidra with Kerry

Who: Faculty, staff, students are invited!
When: Sunday evenings in April from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Please arrive on time to ensure relaxation for all participants will not be interrupted.
Where: Kendall, Studio 2

What to expect:
Yoga nidra (also known as yogic sleep or deep relaxation) is traditionally experienced reclined; however, you can experience nidra seated if that works better for you. Nidra is a wonderful way to rejuvenate yourself. Nidra can help provide relief from sleep issues, stress, and anxiety and leave you with a sense of restoration. Nidra is a guided form of relaxation that typically lasts between 45 minutes to one hour. And the best part is that there is nothing you can do wrong in a yoga nidra! Simply lie down and listen. Often people feel cold when experiencing yoga nidra, even if they usually tend to feel warm, so come with some layers to ensure you are comfortable. Please wear comfortable clothing. Mats and blankets will be provided.

Kerry Ouimette, FP 2019, is Mount Holyoke College’s Neuroscience and Behavior Lab Instructor in addition to her experience as a Trauma Informed, Certified Yoga Instructor for over 20 years and maintaining consistent personal mindfulness practices for 25 years. Kerry gravitated towards mindfulness practices such as intentional breathwork, meditation, yoga nidra, and yoga asana (postures) when she caught herself saying, “I am too busy and too stressed to make time to pause to take care of myself.”
