Hello everyone,
I hope that all of you enjoyed yesterday’s snow, while staying warm! For this week’s email I have a few reminders and clarifications.
As we head into a different operating level for the majority of our on-campus community, that does not change that the Community Compact must be followed and that all of you are being asked to be a responsible community members who think about and prioritize the health and safety of yourself, your peers, and the faculty and staff who are on-campus with you. If you see an alleged violation of the Community Compact please report it to this form. You can also review the CDC recommendation on How to Protect Yourself and Others. As a community we rely on all of us as individuals to be accountable.
Community Compact and Safety Reminders
-
Please make sure you are doing all you can to maintain cleanliness in your spaces and beyond.
-
Facilities have been providing spray bottles and paper towels in the bathrooms so that you can wipe down your areas after each use.
-
When doing laundry, please don’t shake out your clothes before putting them in the washer, this can spread germs.
-
Make sure you are keeping your own spaces in your room clean and disinfected.
-
Outdoor Tables are limited to a capacity of two per table and those using the table must be on opposite sides to maintain appropriate distance, especially when not wearing face coverings to eat. The outdoor tables are for your use, but must be used with physical distancing in mind.
-
The Community Compact says “Please note, as previously communicated, the campus is now smoke- and tobacco-free. Given that COVID-19 causes respiratory distress and concerns, smoking of any kind anywhere on campus is considered an honor code and student conduct violation and can lead to a student’s removal from campus housing and/or other consequences.” There is absolutely no smoking in the residence halls of cigarettes or cannabis.
-
Caution: No one is permitted to skate or walk or otherwise be on the ice on either lake. This ice is not stable and can lead to injury of students who walk on it. If you are found to be doing so you will face student conduct outcomes.
Student Housing Groups Clarification
Student housing groups were created with the intent of allowing you to live in the same hall as your friends since students cannot visit other residential halls this semester. This allows you to have a shared common room with friends (you must still follow posted capacities) and to be in a shared space with students you want to be near. These are NOT pod or family groups, as you may have heard about at other institutions.
-
At all times you must continue to take all necessary safety precautions and follow the Community Compact, such as wearing your facial covering when around other people and maintaining appropriate physical distancing.
-
Testing is NOT a substitute for following all public health measures. It is a helpful tool in allowing the College to rapidly identify infected individuals in order to prevent spread in our community.

Printing on Campus
LITS is excited to share that there is a new MFD located in the Aux Services 24 hour vestibule. This means that there are now five MFDs currently available to students. We have attached a campus map that highlights this information.
LITS has a Student Printer Team on staff who will be checking the mfds twice a day for use, toner, and paper needs. Any questions or concerns should go to helpdesk@Mtholyoke.edu.
If you are having any challenges setting this up you can refer to the "How to setup" guide at www.mtholyoke.edu/go/studentprint
Off-Campus Shuttles
A reminder that the College is running twice weekly off-campus shuttles, which you can sign up for via the shuttle sign-up form. There is an additional shuttle being offered tomorrow, Wednesday, February 3rd.
