To campus residents,
I am writing to share an important update and reminders so please do read this email in its entirety.
Campus Operating Level
As noted in President Stephens’s recent letter, tomorrow marks the shift of our campus operating threshold to level two (or “yellow”). Please review the information provided closely so that you are certain to be in compliance at all times for additional details please review the email sent to all residential students on Friday, January 29.
Please note that every member of the student campus community is not yet permitted to observe this new operating level. At any given moment, there may be students in quarantine and isolation who are, of course, observing different protocols. We have and will continue to expand and contract campus access for residential groups (by floor, for example) as the result of testing and tracing data. Individuals and groups who are impacted are notified directly; campus-wide communications are reserved for significant changes to operating levels.
Let me take this opportunity to remind everyone that every student in residence signed the Community Compact agreeing to adhere to COVID precautions. Compliance is not optional.
Weather Advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for our area from Monday morning (Feb 1) through Tuesday afternoon. Heavy snow is possible, likely making travel difficult. I bring this to your attention because, while our campus operating level will change, the winter storm may impact campus operations including closing of buildings, cancelling of off-campus shuttles and other safety measures. I strongly encourage you to plan accordingly. In addition, as we experienced during last week’s storm, hazardous travel conditions can impact safe COVID-19 testing sample deliveries, thereby delaying receipt of results. We ask for your patience and understanding as everyone aims to safely deliver services to our campus community. Announcements about inclement weather delays or closings will be made via the College website, MHC weather line (413-538-2330), NBC affiliate WWLP and ABC affiliate WGGB. Decisions about campus inclement weather delays will be made and posted by or before 6 am whenever possible. The MHC weather line is 413-538-2330.
